FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 13, 2017) – RedEye, the art event of the summer, returns with signature artist David Le Batard, better known in the art world as LEBO, on Saturday, July 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. at ArtServe, located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Benefitting ArtServe, South Florida’s award-winning arts services organization, RedEye offers a one-of-a-kind experience of music, film, fashion, dance, body art, video games, digital art, spoken word performances and more. The event celebrates all art forms that ArtServe supports while featuring the emerging talents and disciplines of today.

“This year’s RedEye theme is ‘Untamed,’ and we are challenging artists to unleash their creative visions and break free from tradition. The result will be cutting-edge art that is brash and bold,” said ArtServe CEO Jaye Abbate. “Guests will go on an artistic safari, roaming from room to room as they encounter something unexpected at every turn. Visitors can let loose and get wild as they experience a sensory-exploding underground art happening.”

RedEye signature artist LEBO is one of the most well-respected muralists in Miami. Born to Cuban immigrant parents and raised in South Florida, LEBO is the innovator of Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism, a combination of cartoon imagery, richly saturated balances of color and unique linear composition brought together in a narrative style that inspires emotion and evokes various layers of meaning. His art can be found across the globe in private collections and in corporate partnerships with Norwegian Cruise Lines, Lulu Lemon, Harley Davidson, Audi, Google, Microsoft, Red Bull, Ketel One, Bacardi and Ferrari.

In addition to an exclusive new collection of art on display, LEBO’s unique line of wearable art, a collection of limited edition prints, and signature RedEye show posters will also be available at the event.

Live music performances will take place on two stages during RedEye. Featuring Michelle Rose Domb as emcee, bands performing on the main stage include AudioCrisis, The Takers and Leavers, Emily Sheila and Teri Catlin. Additional musicians will share the expanded UnPlugged stage.

Four films selected from Sundance, South by Southwest and other notable film festivals will also be screened.

New to RedEye’s entertainment lineup is the “Two-Hour Comedy Hour.” Hosted by Miami-based comedian and comedy competition champion Fasil Malnik, the “Two-Hour Comedy Hour” will feature performances by a roster of award-winning local funnymen.

Video game fans will enjoy art and gameplay from the popular Danganronpa series including the latest installment, “Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.” Gamers can relish in playing the classics or show off their prowess on a never-before-played game that will be unveiled at RedEye.

Unique to RedEye: Untamed is the inaugural Shipyard & South Beach Beer Garden. In partnership with South Beach Brewing, Shipyard Brewing Company, the largest brewer in Maine, will serve some of its famous brews in collector’s cups featuring a signature LEBO design.

We remember the 49

Image result for PULSE RIBBON

The fight for LGBTQ civil rights and liberties is one of the most crucial ongoing movements of our time. It’s been one year since the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, and we are more committed than ever to defending Florida’s LGBTQ community.
One year ago today, horror gripped our state as 49 people were hatefully gunned down at a gay bar in Orlando — most of the victims young LGBTQ people of color. Yet in the days, weeks, and months following the tragic shooting at Pulse Nightclub, our LGBTQ community has become more united. We are prepared to fight discriminatory and unconstitutional policies that marginalize our community further and continue to resist efforts to pit marginalized groups against each other.
Today, we remember the 49 people who lost their lives one year ago at Pulse Nightclub, and we vow to continue to uplift, support and defend LGBTQ people. We ask that you send a message to the LGBTQ community and allies everywhere by posting on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter that today, and everyday, you will #HonorThemWithAction.

We will continue to resist hate, discrimination, and policies that seek to marginalize any groups, because only together can we find a way to achieve justice for all.

On this solemn anniversary, and every day, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ community.
Sincerely,

Ron Mills Editor
